The vision for Tayer + Elementary was to create a bar, comfortable and practical for the daytime crowd, with great coffee, quick bites, and wi-fi, and pair it with a forward-thinking cocktail bar for the evening. Our friends, Alex Kratena and Monica Berg came to us with a concept - a fully flexible workstation comprised of moveable hexagons. A work station totally transformable to meet the needs of the operator and the requirements of the venue - the Tayer Series was born.

“I love working with Behind Bars; brilliant team, innovative design process and professionalism. Together, attractive design and manufacturing of the highest standard and quality makes them industry leaders that will bring new dimensions to your project.''

Research and exploration

A behind-the-scenes look at the creative process - from early sketches and cardboard mock-ups to VR explorations shaping the final concept.

Frustrated by poorly designed bars, Alex and Monica envisioned a modern, flexible, and efficient setup. Inspired by nature, they found the hexagon offered the ideal balance of form and function
They began studying and understanding operational possibilities and ergonomic benefits. Taking the idea through ideation, initial design, prototyping, and finally into production was an intense and hands-on process.
